Course/Race Day Logistics:
Q. Is the course certified?
A. Yes! The Half Marathon Certification Code is AR11020DLP.
Q. Where do I park on race day?
A. There will be some parking at the Start Line and also by the Finish Line. Winslow is a small town with narrow streets, so we encourage you to carpool whenever possible. Please do not park on the course. Click here to see a map of available race day parking.
Q. Am I allowed to walk the race?
A. Yes, but be mindful that the course is open for 4 hours and if you are on the course longer than that you may not have volunteer and aid station support.
Q. Are dogs allowed to run with me?
A. Dogs are not allowed on the course due to safety concerns.
Q. Are strollers allowed on the course?
A. Strollers are not allowed on the Half Marathon course or the 5k course due to the fact that portions of the courses are gravel.
Q. What is the elevation change for the course? Is the course hilly?
A. The Winslow Run Committee has chosen one of the flattest routes available in the area! That said, there will be hills. Click here to see the course map: you will find contour info at the bottom of the map.
Q. Is there a map of the course online?
A. Yes! You can click here to see the map. A final map will also be included in your race packet.
Q. Will the course be closed?
A. The course is in a rural area that usually sees only light traffic, therefore it will not be closed. We do, however, urge you to practice caution while running by NOT using headphones in both ears. We will be making serious efforts to contact all property owners on the course to ask them consider minimal travel during the morning of the race as well as keep an eye on their loose pets.
Q. Can I leave items with volunteers along the course?
A. No. Volunteers will not accept items. If you leave something at a water stop or along the course you do so at your own risk.
Q. How far apart are the aid/water stations?
A. Aid/Water stations will be approximately 2 miles apart. Stations will be equipped with water. All stations will have first aid kits.
Q. Are there bathroom facilities available?
A. Yes, there are bathrooms at the start line and there will be a “porta-potty” at the half-marathon turnaround point and at the finish line.
Q. Can I change races?
A. Yes, you can change races. However, there will be no refund if you change from the half marathon to the 5k, and you will be charged the difference between entry fees if you change from the 5k to the half marathon. Corrections of personal data are made free of charge.
Q. Can I get a refund?
A. Sorry, no refunds on cancellations. We are happy to give you your goodie bag and shirt even if you are unable to run in the race for any reason. You may have someone pick it up for you with a signed copy of your registration confirmation. Click here for a copy of our full Cancellation Policy.
Q. Can I give/sell my number to another person?
A. No. Entries and race numbers are not transferable from one person to another. Although it seems harmless, it could have dire consequences in an emergency situation to the individual using the registration and the entire participant field. It is imperative that the registration data associated with a specific race number belong to the individual actually participating in the race. The medical staff must be able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment.
Q. Can I have my friend run with me if he/she is not entered in the race?
A. No. All participants and their friends (and family, too) must have a race number and sign a waiver to be on the course.
Q. Where can I meet my family and friends after the race?
A. Friend and family are encouraged to gather at the finish line to cheer everyone on! The finish line will be in downtown Winslow, a quaint little area which will be bustling with fun information booths and vendors.
Q. I’m from out of town. Where should I stay?
A. Check out our “Lodgings & Attractions” page, where you will find information about some unique and fun accommodations.
Q. How long after the start of the Half-Marathon will results be tracked at the finish line?
A. Three and a half hours.
Q. Is there anything to do in Winslow after the Race?
A. There is a Museum downtown with information about local historical sites as well as our local Farmer’s Market and coffee shop. Venders will be set up in the park by the Finish Line. There are also two State Parks and a number of unique local stores in the area.
Q. I need help training for the half marathon. What do I do?
